The canal paths of Exeter and Tiverton
Dartmoor national park the largest and wildest open space in southern Britain attracting 10 million visitors per year. There are 368 square miles of natural, heather carpeted, open moorland containing rocky streams, granite tors offering panoramic views, areas of woodland and enchanting forests. You will see many sheep and ponies roaming freely often on the road. There are many designated, mapped routes for walkers. Visit interesting, quaint villages eg. Widecombe and stop off at one of a selection of inns many offering good food & hospitality.
Exmoor national park where the rugged moor land extends up northwards to the coast. There are opportunities to ride, cycle, horseriding and shooting available. This parkland is more exposed to high winds and its rugged terrain holds many deer along with sheep making it a favourite spot for visitors.
Devon Coastline There are 300 miles of coastline to the county which contain 60 different beaches offering a choice of swimming, surfing, sailing and fishing.
The South West Coastal footpath has designated footpaths which are physically challenging in places (quite steep!!) but well worth the climb for the fantastic breath taking views. See:
